Blow for Mourinho as Milan could agree deal for Man United’s 30-year-old star

According to Corriere Dello Sport, AC Milan are the latest side to register their interest in Marouane Fellaini. The Belgian international has an uncertain future at Old Trafford and the Metro say he could be on his way out as his contract is up in the coming weeks.

Fellaini joined United from Everton in 2013 and has gone on to make more than 150 appearances in all competitions, winning the FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League. The 30-year-old has been used sparingly this season, however, and hasn’t agreed a deal to extend his contract.

Under Jose Mourinho, Fellaini has made just five Premier League starts, as Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic have been ahead of the Belgian in the pecking order. He was come off the bench to score important goals at times, with his aerial superiority making him a threat from set pieces and balls into the box.

Fellaini’s future is uncertain as he appears set to leave United if his contract demands aren’t met, and Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas could rival Milan’s interest in his signature this summer. Mourinho recently revealed United had put an offer on the table and were hopeful of the midfielder signing it, but an exit could still be on the cards until he clarifies his future either way.

  1. … that Fellaini should go!
He has been less than useless on so many occasions that even a 1 year contract extension would be a waste of time and money!
Fellaini seems to be disinterested most of the time and only makes a contribution if coming on as a sub by using his height to cause defences trouble when they are tired.
United need to get rid of the dross – and there is a lot including Fellaini in the squad – and buy young, wisely and buy quality for if United have any hopes of recapturing past glories, the club needs to do so before it becomes a ‘make the numbers up’ club!
