Manchester United suffered yet another disappointing result against Crystal Palace last night in the Premier League.
The Red Devils could have easily lost the game if not for Andre Onana’s heroics but to be fair, they also had the chance to win the game.
Transfer – Report – Man Utd plot move to sign £40million+ wanted defender
Ten Hag made five impressive additions in the summer – Leny Yoro, Joshua Zirkzee, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte. Of this, three players have become mainstays in the line-up while the latter is still finding his feet.
Leny Yoro is currently out injured after fracturing his foot in pre-season. Meanwhile, Dan Ashworth & co. continue to plan for future transfer windows.
As per Christian Falk on The Daily Briefing via Caught Offside, Man Utd are clear to finally agree on the signing of Bayern midfielder, Leon Goretzka.
The Red Devils were interested in signing the 29-year-old back in the summer but the transfer did not materialize. Man Utd submitted a £33.8m offer to sign the German midfielder in what was an explicit request by Erik ten Hag.
As per Falk, despite deciding to stay at Bayern, Goretzka is enduring a difficult time, having played just a solitary minute in the Bundesliga so far. Here is what the journalist had to say on the £290,000 a week star and why Man Utd might have an advantage:
“Manchester United were previously interested in his services and they’ve seen that they can make good deals with Bayern Munich having landed both Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in the summer. They also have Joshua Zirkzee who was a quasi-Bayern player in the sense that United paid a fee to them for his transfer.”
Clearly, relations between the two clubs seem to be at an all-time high after the summer transfers. Man Utd will be looking to revisit their interest in Goretzka who is struggling under Vincent Kompany and could benefit from a transfer.
Bayern, who are usually very astute with the way they go about their business find themselves in a rather strange scenario.
They have more players in the squad than they need and the potential sale for Goretzka could help them out financially. Let’s wait and see how it goes.
