Manchester United are reportedly growing closer to pursuing the services of Alexis Sanchez after an Adidas flagship store begun printing the iconic number 7 shirt with the Chilean’s name. The Arsenal forward is currently at the United’s Carrington base for a medical, and the move is likely to be announced in the next 24 hours.
In a report covered by The Mail, a United supporter is spotted to have purchased a United bearing the name of Sanchez with the number 7 jersey, which has previously been worn by club legends including David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Both clubs have seemingly agreed on an exchange involving Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan moving either side, and the finalisation of the deal could hinge on both players putting pen to paper on respective long-term contracts.
The Chilean has often earned for his impressive work-rate on the playing field, and his influence is likely to improve the overall creativity in the attack front as he normally tends to cut inside from the left wing, to provide pinpoint crosses for his strikers.
As per The Mirror’s John Cross, Sanchez is undergoing a series of medical test tonight, and the agreement could be announced in a short while, though Mkhitaryan has yet to finalise the necessary formalities for his switch to the Emirates.
