Amorim favorite – Man Utd now want signing of £64million player – Journalist

Diogo Costa Porto and Portugal goal keeper

Manchester United currently have a squad with a lot of gaps and Ruben Amorim needs to find a way to bring in players who can improve the team. Among the many positions they need reinforcements, the goalkeeping position is one of them.

The Red Devils currently have Andre Onana as the first-choice goalkeeper but the Cameroonian has flattered to deceive during his time at the club. He moved from Inter Milan a couple of seasons ago to replace David de Gea.

Onana was signed with massive expectations and he was expected to be the heir to the Spanish legend. However, it did not play out that way as the ex-Ajax goalkeeper has struggled for consistency and made many unforced errors.

Now, as per journalist Sebastiao Sousa, Man Utd have Porto shot-stopper Diogo Costa on the list of potential goalkeeping reinforcements as he continues to be one of Ruben Amorim’s favourite choices for the position.

The Portuguese international has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world in recent seasons and he deserves a move to a big club sooner rather than later. However, his price tag of around £64million could prove to be a stumbling block.

Costa is the perfect example of a modern day goalkeeper, equally good at shot-stopping and playing with the ball at his feet. He has enough experience at the international level to make the step up to a club like Man Utd.

What Man Utd need is not just a reliable goalkeeper but also someone who can command the backline and inspire some much needed confidence. This is one of the major aspects that is currently missing in Onana’s game.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Cameroonian international and if Man Utd manage to shift him out in the coming weeks. If they do so, Diogo Costa would be an excellent replacement and let’s wait and see how things play out.
