Manchester United signed three defenders in the last summer transfer window but have still been poor at the back.
They have already let in 11 goals in 9 Premier League fixtures and incoming manager, Ruben Amorim, must sort out the defensive conundrum to improve the Old Trafford outfit.
News – Report – Man Utd expected to move to make £60m player first Amorim signing
According to an exclusive story covered by The Sun, Amorim wants to bring Ivorian international, Ousmane Diomande, to Manchester United.
The African star, who was part of the AFCON winning squad, has been brilliant at the back under the Portuguese manager.
He has started 8 games in the league this term so far and helped Sporting CP keep 6 clean sheets. Last night, he featured for full 90 minutes as the Lions defeated Estrela 5-1 at home.
The Sun claim that Sporting will only allow their prized asset to leave if the release clause of £70million is activated. As per reports in Portugal (via SW) the actual value of the termination clause is 80 million euros, hence, £67.4million.
Should Manchester United sign Ousmane Diomande?
In the summer, the Red Devils broke the bank to lure French super-talent, Leny Yoro, but unfortunately, the youngster has been on the treatment table since completing his move.
On the other hand, United also signed an experienced center half in the form of Matthijs de Ligt. The Dutchman has not been at his best this season.
Not to forget, the 20-time English champions also have Martinez, Maguire, Evans and Lindelof in the central defense.
Having already spent well over £100million on central defenders in the past few years, Man Utd should not really splash more cash and Amorim must utilize the current crop first before thinking of bringing in Ousmane Diomande. What do you think?
