Anthony Martial Ready to Help Manchester United Complete this £40m Signing

Anthony Martial was a stumbling block in Manchester United signing long-term transfer target Ivan Perisic. Inter Milan reportedly wanted the striker to move on a loan deal in order to let the Croatian winger join Manchester United. Furthermore, the Italian club demanded £45 million in transfer fees for the 28-year-old. As a result, the negotiations have been dragging for a long time. It appears that we may be approaching a conclusion, as Martial has reportedly agreed to join the Italian outfit on a loan deal.

Calciomercato claims that Martial would rather move to the San Siro rather than spend another season trying to establish himself in the first team. Martial was constantly in and out of the starting line-up, as manager Jose Mourinho was clearly not happy with the contribution from the 21-year-old. Last season, the striker only scored four goals and created six for his teammates in 25 league appearances. However, most of his appearances were as a winger, as he largely failed to play in his favourite position of a centre forward.

If Martial has indeed accepted the transfer as per the reports, it would allow Mourinho to bring a player that he has watched for almost a year. Perisic has been on United’s radar for a long time, and the 28-year-old came up with 11 goals and 11 assists in 36 league appearances last season. Despite being one of their best players, Inter Milan are ready to part company with the Croatian considering his age and the need to meet financial fair play regulations.
