Manchester United news: $119-million star will consider to join Red Devils on this condition

France international Antoine Griezmann would reportedly considering a switch to Manchester United next summer, provided they are willing to match his hefty wage demands. The Atletico Madrid wants to become the Premier League’s highest-earner in order to join the Red Devils ahead of Barcelona.

According to The Sun, United could retain their interest in Griezmann at the end of the current campaign, where his release clause will be halved from his current £177m valuation. However, with Barcelona also said to hold an interest, the Frenchman appears to have upped his wage demands, and he is said to want at least £400,000 weekly in order to make the switch to Old Trafford.

Griezmann is deemed to have previously been offered a package of around £290,000-a-week, which would put him on par with compatriot and United midfielder Paul Pogba, but the forward is prepared to demand extra from the Mancunian giants, who have expressed a keen interest in his signature. Griezmann’s release clause is €100m($119m) in his contract which lasts until the summer of 2022.

With Barcelona having recently signed Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Griezmann could potentially find himself competing for positions at the Catalan giants, and this could put United in an advantageous position, although it is yet to be seen whether the club’s hierarchy would agree upon his wages in addition to his £89m price tag.
