Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a contract offer for Marouane Fellaini, whose contract with Manchester United expires at the end of the month.
The Belgian has been in a contract standoff with United in recent months and this has mostly come about due to the club’s reluctance to reward him with more than a year’s contract.
As such, the midfielder is attracting plenty of club interest and according to The Times, league rivals Arsenal are prepared to hold a discussion with the Belgian on Wednesday.
New Arsenal manager Unai Emery is understood to be a known admirer of the 30-year-old since his time at Paris Saint-Germain but the Gunners could face competition from AC Milan.
Fellaini has failed to win over the United supporters since his switch from Everton five years ago but he has nevertheless remained a favourite under current head coach Jose Mourinho.
Nevertheless, his loss won’t be considered as a huge loss, considering the impending arrival of Fred whilst Mourinho is expected to recruit another midfielder to replace the former Evertonian.
Fellaini, who is presently on a £80,000-a-week wage, has made over 150 appearances during his five seasons with Manchester United. His current deal at Old Trafford expires at the end of the month.
