Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with Portuguese international, Joao Felix, for some time and the latest reports suggest that the Gunners are prepared to take the lead.

The north London side made multiple moves to sign the Ukrainian international but have failed and are now focusing on signing the Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder.

The Star claim Man Utd are eyeing the loan signing of Felix for six months. Arsenal want him on an initial loan as well but would even be prepared to agree a package of £80million to make his move permanent.

Erik ten Hag needs to reinforce the front line in order to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, Mikel Arteta wants a new forward to replace the injured, Gabriel Jesus.

The Gunners are currently on top of the Premier League table, 9 points ahead of the Old Trafford club, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

Felix was a key member of the Atletico squad that won the La Liga title in 2020-21 but this season, he has mainly warmed the bench due to poor relations with manager, Diego Simeone.

The former Benfica man excelled at the FIFA World Cup and even scored for the Rojiblancos after returning. It will be intriguing to see whether he will start tonight against league leaders, Barcelona.

Have your say – Should Man Utd move swiftly and beat Arsenal to the signing of Joao Felix?
