Bad news as Man Utd have major obstacle in pursuit of £32million Michael Carrick replacement

Manchester United have been dealt a major blow in their hopes of signing OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, reports the Mirror. Liverpool are reportedly keen on his signature and will push hard to bring him to the Premier League this summer.

Liverpool could lose Emre Can on a free transfer to Juventus at the end of the season, meaning a talented replacement is required. The Reds believe Seri is that man, with the 26-year-old boasting 43 chances created and 30 successful dribbles in 2017/18.

Last season, Seri was outstanding in Ligue 1 too, scoring and creating 16 goals in 34 league starts, which led to interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants looked set to confirm the deal in the summer, but the move broke down and they’ve since signed Paulinho instead.

Manchester United’s interest in the Ivorian international comes due to the amount of midfielders they could be without ahead of the new season. Michael Carrick is retiring, Marouane Fellaini has been linked with Besiktas, Ander Herrera has been linked with AC Milan while Paul Pogba’s a target for Real Madrid.

Despite the Mirror suggesting a £32m bid is all it will take to guarantee talks with the player, Liverpool’s interest could hamper United if they make it clear Seri has an important to play in the side.
