According to Paris United, Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their long-running pursuit of Alex Sandro, with the Juventus defender nearing a move to Paris Saint-Germain.
Sandro has been linked with a move to United all summer, due to the uncertain future of Luke Shaw, but he appears set to join the Ligue 1 defending champions.
Shaw is expected to stay at United to battle Ashley Young for a starting place this season, so Sandro may have been off their shortlist anyway. With Young and Shaw having just 12 months left on their respective deals at Old Trafford, manager Jose Mourinho has to clarify their futures.
Young is 33 years of age and is in the eve of his career. Nevertheless, he was first-choice left-back for England at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, so he’s far from finished.
As for Shaw, the 23-year-old lost his place for club and country due to Young but is working hard to get his spot back in the starting lineup. He could have another ten years ahead of him at United, so he’s likely to be a regular in the future if he continues to work hard like he is this summer.
The Red Devils’ pursuit of Sandro was as insurance if Young and Shaw would be leaving in the next 12 months, but Shaw fighting for his place means Mourinho is unlikely to sign another left-back.
Mourinho is the most foolish coach i ever seen for not signing alex sandro uptill now!!!
