According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United’s pursuit of Barcelona outcast Yerry Mina is off after ‘talks came to a halt’ over financial details. The 23-year-old has fallen out of favour with the Catalan giants and looked to be on his way to Old Trafford when the Red Devils showed an interest, but it appears Mina won’t be making the switch now, leaving United to pursue another target.
The Colombian international, who has 15 caps for his country, joined Barcelona from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in January 2018 and has gone on to make just six appearances in all competitions. With Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti ahead of Mina in the pecking order, coupled with his inconsistent form immediately upon his arrival, his future looks away from the Camp Nou.
United were going to capitalise on the situation, as manager Jose Mourinho wants another centre-back this summer, but Barcelona were requesting more money than the Red Devils were willing to pay. Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld is now expected to be their primary summer target to strengthen the defence, with the Belgian international willing to run his deal down until next summer to push through a move.
