According to Le Progres, Manchester United could agree a deal with Olympique Lyonnais for Nabil Fekir who ‘is likely to leave his club’. It’s bad news for Liverpool as the Reds were hoping to land the 24-year-old’s signature this summer but their decision to lower their bid for the playmaker hampered their chances of a deal going through.
The report states Liverpool took £5m off their valuation of Fekir after his medical with the club (knee problem). The decision led to them missing out on the midfielder entirely and now United have a chance to bring him to Old Trafford. He won’t be cheap, however, with Lyon valuing their star player in excess of £60m.
Despite manager Jose Mourinho being overstocked in attack – Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata – it appears he’s open to making an addition. Fekir would improve the squad too. The French international scored and created 31 goals in all competitions last season, operating as an attacking-midfielder behind the striker.
It will be a major blow to Liverpool if they were to lose Fekir to their fierce rivals, but latest reports don’t look good for their chances.
I would also keep a keen eye on Pavron’s situation. He looked good for France and is relatively unknown, or was until the Argentina game. United should make enquiries now, the last excellent full back United had was French.
