Bad news for Manchester United as Barcelona could agree £53m deal for winger

According to Sky Sports, Barcelona could agree a £53m deal for Chelsea winger Willian, with their opening bid for the Brazilian international having been rejected. Manchester United have been heavily linked with Willian this summer, with manager Jose Mourinho keen on renewing acquaintances with the player he previously managed at Chelsea, but they may miss out on procuring his signature as a result of Barcelona’s interest.

The 29-year-old joined Chelsea from Anzhi in 2013 and has gone on to make 236 appearances in all competitions, scoring and creating 83 goals. Willian was a regular in the first-team least season, featuring in 55 games across the board, but he’s been rumoured to want a way out of Stamford Bridge after his relationship with former manager Antonio Conte broke down. United were hoping to capitalise on the situation and bring Willian to the Old Trafford, but Barcelona are actively pursuing him to strengthen their own attack.

Willian won’t come cheap, however, so United will have to pay close to £60m to beat Barcelona to his signature. Chelsea are so far holding firm on the Brazilian forward, but he may be allowed to leave for the right price this summer.
