Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho remains open to the idea of Anthony Martial leaving Old Trafford, provided the Frenchman personally demands an exit from the club.
Earlier in June, the Frenchman’s agent admitted that the attacker could make way from the club after being restricted of gametime during the backend of the previous campaign.
However, Martial has since stayed put with United with no offer in the horizon and a recent report has suggested that Ed Woodward is determined to keep hold of the attacker.
Despite this, The Telegraph now claims that Mourinho could sanction the Frenchman’s exit, should he personally inform of his intention to part ways with the club.
Clearly, Mourinho does not want to work with a player who is deemed to be unsettled and there could be a face-to-face meeting in the coming days to resolve the attacker’s situation.
Irrespective of this, the club’s hierarchy are understood to have no ambition of losing the 22-year-old anytime soon and triggering a one-year extension on Martial’s contract remains the main priority for Ed Woodward.
Martial’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2019 and so far, the club have not shown the intention of rewarding him with a bumper contract, as per his agent Philippe Lamboley.
