Bad news as Man Utd suffer fresh double injury blow ahead of Spurs game

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho may supposedly have to deal with further injury concerns with both Alexis Sanchez and Luke Shaw doubtful for Monday’s Premier League meeting versus Tottenham Hotspur.

Sanchez was completely excluded from the matchday squad for the 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday and shortly after the game, Mourinho confirmed that the Chilean could be sidelined for around one or two weeks with a minor knock.

On the other hand, Shaw, who has been one of United’s better performers this term, is said to have suffered a couple of knocks during the trip to the South Coast, where he provided an assist for Romelu Lukaku’s goal.

According to ESPN, both players are now uncertain to feature in the Monday night showdown against Mauricio Pochettino’s side – a game which could define United’s league campaign despite the season having just begun.

In the absence of Sanchez, the United attack appeared flat during the surprise defeat to Brighton and Mourinho would surely push the Chilean to make the Spurs game, given the importance of the fixture.

Elsewhere, Shaw has made a positive start with a goal and an assist in his opening two games and hopefully, he can recover for the Spurs visit to avoid Ashley Young from capitalising on the situation.

  1. These are not unexpected injuries, Sanchez is an ageing player his style of play says he is going to attract injuries and at his age it is not going to heal as quickly as it once did. Shaw is another, after the bad break he had, in his mind is the memory of it and the slightest niggle is going to seem like a repeat of the pain, anguish and frustration. Shaw will never be the same Sanchez will always be the same but that is what you get with an ageing player. Next up Phil Jones the original doctors note and Eric Bailly closely following behind.

  2. ManU nowdays prefer money in the bank than fan satisfaction,Glazers knew shaqiri was available for 13m,Rose for 25m,sandro for 40m, tobi for 50,mahrez for 50m, maguire for 50..all cheap bargains, instead they will sack mourinho to please the fans and give us hope, but they have no interest on securing the 21st title, Woodward pleases the chairpersons not the manager, you are a shame to football you selfish uncaring moneylovers, youve made us mancity’s bedogs
