Barcelona forward Pedro has confirmed that he has a €30m buyout clause and that Manchester United are close to activating it and bringing him to Old Trafford.
The 27 year old is reportedly a target for a number of teams including Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea and the Barca star has confirmed that he is fielding offers.
Pedro is quoted by Sport as saying
“I have not spoken with [Chelsea manager Jose] Mourinho but I do not want to say anything else Because it would be a lack of respect to my club, Barca.”
He added about his transfer clause:
“Both the club and I Decided to reduce the clause and it’s true there are offers. I’m in a difficult situation at Barcelona.”
Spanish paper Sport have built on this story saying that United are firmly in the chase for Pedro, saying they are willing to activate his release clause.
But Marca have their own spin on the story claiming it isn’t a clause, more of a pact that if an offer over €25m comes in, then he will be allowed to leave. Marca claim United are willing to pay between £18-20m for Pedro and that Barcelona are willing to make the deal happen.
