Barcelona are keen on making a swoop for Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera, according to reports from the Daily Star.
Ander Herrera may have lost his place in the Manchester United starting lineup this season following the arrival of Nemanja Matic but the midfielder still remains a key part of the plans at Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.
Therefore, United were said to be preparing to offer Herrera an extension to his current contract worth £75,000-per-week which expires at the end of the 2017/18 Premier League season and the 28-year-old is also believed to keen on putting pen to paper on a new deal at the club.
However, as a huge cause for concern for the United faithful, it has now been revealed that Barcelona are showing interest in signing Herrera in recent times and the Catalan giants could well make their move for the Spanish international if the Red Devils fail to sign up the ex-Athletic Bilbao man before the New Year.
Given that Herrera will enter the final six months of his contract at United in January, Barcelona will be able to speak with the Spanish international regarding a move next summer on a free transfer and the Premier League giants will surely hope to avoid such a situation by agreeing a deal within the next few months.
