Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde has stated that he is impressed by what he saw from Manchester United.
Manchester United squared off against Barcelona in the final game of their pre-season tour of the United States and the match at the FedEx Field, Landover ended in a 1-0 defeat for the Red Devils as Neymar scored the winner in the 31st minute of the clash.
While United failed to create too many opportunities in the second-half, they certainly were impressive before the break and forced Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen to a number of decent saves.
Following the game, Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde gave the media his assessment of United, praising the Red Devils and stating that his side would not like to face the Red Devils in the Champions League during the upcoming season.
Valverde said, “We are happy with the game [and] to have won against a side like Manchester, who have a lot of strength. I think the first half was played with a high rhythm; there were lots of chances at both ends, so in the second half we tried to control the game.
“I view Manchester United as a tough, serious team, a team that, perhaps have not been in a good moment, but they were champions of the Europa League [last season] and are back in the Champions League this year.
“They’re a strong team, contenders for all competitions, I think they will be a difficult team to beat in the Premier League and in Europe. I wouldn’t like to play them in the Champions League.”
