Barcelona open to selling £31m-rated midfielder to Manchester United: report

Barcelona will reportedly listen to offers for Andre Gomes when the season comes to a close. The Portugal international made the switch to Camp Nou from Valencia for a reported £30m fee in the summer of 2016.

According to Spanish outlet AS , the Catalan giants are prepared to cash in on the central midfielder in the summer after having been deemed surplus to requirements under Ernesto Valverde. According to Don Balon a fee of around £31m would be sufficient to lure him from the Camp Nou.

The Euro 2016 winner had been on United’s radar during the previous summer transfer window, but Barcelona were reluctant to do business with Valverde wanting to keep most of his squad intact during his first season at the club.

Gomes’ valuation has not been stated in the report, but Barcelona are hoping for a good showing from the Portuguese at the summer World Cup in Russia in order to raise his stock further in the transfer market.

United are expected to pursue at least one central midfielder in the summer with Michael Carrick due to retire from his playing career, but they could be the requirement for a further addition, should Marouane Fellaini leave on a Bosman.

Aside from Gomes, United are also actively monitoring the progress of Nice’s Jean Michael Seri whilst Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Weigl and Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic are the other names propping up the alleged transfer shortlist.
