Benitez’s silence on United’s Bale move speaks volumes

Could rumours of a Gareth Bale move to Manchester United have any truth to them?

The former Tottenham man has constantly been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and the rumours increased after a season that saw the Welshman turned on by his own fans.

Bale came out and stated that he would remain in Spain after a difficult second season, but rumours of a United move continue to rumble on.

Most recently, United have been linked with a £86m move for Bale as they look to bring in a Galactico of their own prompting Real Madrid manager and former Man United foe Rafa Benitez to comment on the rumours.

Speaking ahead of Real Madrid’s game with Tottenham in the Audi Cup, the former Liverpool and Napoli man said:

“Big offer for Bale from United? I won’t talk about that. He is happy here and he will play tomorrow.”

But does Benitez know more than he is letting on? His reluctance to talk about the matter leads many to believe he does especially given how the rest of the presser went.

When asked about the future of Karim Benzema, Benitez was more than happy to go into detail about the French striker, saying:

“I don’t see any reason why Benzema would leave us. We are very happy with him. I think he will stay.”

The difference in his answers is pretty clear, so could this mean that United are in the market for Bale?

With a month left in the window, things could get interesting!
