Manchester United supporters were delighted with the showing of Victor Lindelof during Saturday’s 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. The Sweden international kept his first-ever Premier League clean sheet as he was paired alongside Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence.
Lindelof has had plenty of jittery moments since the start of the season, including a slip against Newcastle United last weekend, which saw United concede their first Premier League goal at Old Trafford.
Despite this, he provided a rock-solid performance against Chris Hughton’s side on Saturday and the club’s faithful were pleased with the impact of the Swede, who appears to be living up to his initial expectations.
Here are some of the best tweets over Lindelof’s showing…..

I believe Lindelof will turn out to be a great signing for United. Reminds me of Vidic's and Evra's shaky start.

Young showed his old winger traits today, thought he was absolutely outstanding. Can’t ignore Lindelof either, his best game in a United shirt by a mile. Hope he can kick on from here!

In pub watching United v Brighton on a dodgy stream. United have been utterly appalling. Lindelof not looking a mess the only positive.

Marcos Rojo had been a top performance against Basel in midweek, and the Argentine is one of the many players including Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe, who can offer competition to Lindelof.
While Bailly and Jones are certain to feature ahead of Lindelof when fit, the Swede has the opportunity to boost his confidence during the festive period where Mourinho will rotate his squad regularly.
Bailly has already made himself a favourite among the United faithful, and we could potentially see a combination of the Ivorian and Lindelof in a dream partnership in years to come.
