Manchester United supporters were undoubtedly delighted with the performance of Anthony Martial after he stood out in the 2-0 Champions League triumph over Benfica last night.
The Frenchman made his third Champions League start in four matches after he bagged the crucial winner in the 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.
Though Martial missed a first-half penalty, he remained a glowing presence on the left side of the attack as he used his exceptional pace and skills to test the Benfica backline on regular occasions.

Anthony Martial has been the best player on the pitch. He is so hard to stop when at full speed with the ball at his feet. Great to see.

Anthony Martial can look like Lionel Messi weaving past players, and then suddenly he turns into Gabriel Obertan at the decisive moment.

Anthony Martial has the feet of a ballerina. That beautiful bastard would win Strictly Come Dancing if he entered. What a player! ??

This Martial – Rashford sub scenario has worked very well. But I am greedy & really really want to see them play together w/ Lukaku

Anthony Martial is an animal, IMO it won’t be long before we see him start week in week out. Makes it look so easy, our best threat ?.

Martial in that first half was outstanding. Really hope Jose looks past the penalty miss because he was terrorising that Benfica defence.

United’s supporters at Old Trafford voiced their pleasure over Martial’s showing during the game, and it may not be soon before he commands a regular starting role in the Premier League.
Despite, Martial’s progress under Mourinho this campaign, he fails to find the end product of his movement, and this has seen the gaffer prefer Marcus Rashford ahead of him in the pecking order.
Rashford, now 20, has made a far better impact in the Premier League – while commanding a starting position, and Martial may have to improve on his final ball as well as defending to make the cut.
