Manchester United supporters were ecstatic after goalkeeper David de Gea put in one of the best performances of his Red Devils career to keep Arsenal at bay on Saturday evening. The Spain international made as many as 14 saves during the 3-1 triumph, which has equalled a Premier League record, also held by Tim Krul and Vito Mannone.
The 26-year-old made a stunning left-foot block during United’s 0-0 draw versus Liverpool earlier in October, but his performance against the Gunners truly stands out with a second-half save in particular preventing the hosts from going level 2-2.

There have been a lot of discussions as to who is the better shot-stopper between Manuel Neuer and De Gea, but the triumph over the Gunners won’t leave many doubters on hand. United take on Manchester City in the derby next weekend, and Jose Mourinho will surely want another world-class performance from his shot-stopper, although the club will have to cope without Paul Pogba.
Pogba was sent off late on for a rash challenge on Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin, and his absence could hamper the overall balance in midfield against a Pep Guardiola side, who possess creative talents in the form of David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne. Manchester United are currently separated from the league leaders by five points, but they have a game in hand over West Ham United on Sunday.
