‘Better Defence’, ‘More Attack’, Man United target 3 signings to strengthen squad in January

Manchester United will reportedly seek to pursue three players during the current transfer window. The Red Devils have endured injuries during the course of the season, and this has hampered their league form in someway as they find themselves 15 points adrift of the top of the table.

According to The Mail, United are planning to strengthen the full-back positions, where they have lacked the quality, especially in the back-up department. Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young have been the pick of the players in the right and left-back positions respectively, but the former’s injury absence has had a direct influence on the club’s form.

Meanwhile, the club are also on the search for a new attacking midfielder with Henrikh Mkhitaryan struggling for form in recent months. The Armenian has struggled to firm a regular role since the last international break, and he has been linked with a potential move elsewhere during the current transfer window.

A number of high-profile names including Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil and Chelsea’s Willian have been associated with United, and a deal for either looks improbable, given their respective clubs are vying for a top-four finish in the Premier League this term.
