Manchester United supporters were pleased with the showing of Alexis Sanchez during Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur at the Wembley Stadium.
The Chile international was benched for the previous outing at Bournemouth with Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford getting their opportunities and this led to suggestions that he could miss the semi-final.
However, Jose Mourinho maintained his faith in the attacker with a starting role against Spurs and the attacker did not disappoint as he scored United’s opener in an enthusiastic display.
Sanchez has struggled to put in a consistent run of performances in the United shirt but Saturday’s showing gave an indication that the Chilean is close to reaching his peak form.
Big fan of Sánchez's determination and fight. Big game player.

One thing about Sanchez that always stands out at United, regardless of how he's playing, is he never goes into hiding. #mufc

Enjoyed United's performance today. A lot. Sanchez was outstanding. Lingard outstanding. Whole team worked itself into the ground. Spurs shrank. United grew. Worthy winners.

I am a member of Martial FC but there’s no way he puts in even half the work rate that Sanchez put in today. Man was chasing defenders and then defending crosses in the 93rd minute. Phenomenal big game performance.

Sanchez was excellent. Proper big game player. Pogba, Jones and Herrera were sensational too. Young and Valencia were fucking dogshit. Rest of the team was good. Good win, happy with that

Sanchez’s selection produced plenty of question marks ahead of the game but Mourinho could undoubtedly be delighted that the winger was able to produce a such a performance in a season-defining game for United.
The Portuguese tactician has previously suggested it may take time for Sanchez to play to the best of his abilities and the fans may get to witness his true-self after his first full pre-season with the side.
