Manchester United shot-stopper David de Gea has reportedly signaled his intention to join Real Madrid in the near future. The Spain international is widely regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in the world, and he has taken his game to the next level by single-handedly securing points for the club in particular games.
According to Don Balon, the 26-year-old has asked his representative to push through a move to the Bernabeu as he is now desperate to realise his dream move. Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is recently deemed to have dropped his interest in Athletic Bilbao’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is available on a free in the summer, and this appears to have revived speculation over De Gea’s position.
The European champions have not made a formal approach for the Spaniard since their failed move in 2015, and De Gea has since remained committed to United, whilst recently admitting that it is a dream to turn up for the club.
Real Madrid are currently struggling in their defence of the La Liga title, having fallen 16 points behind run-away leaders Barcelona, and the £200,000 a-week star would surely prefer staying at Old Trafford, where he has the opportunity to challenge for bigger prizes under Jose Mourinho.
The former Atleti graduate is contracted to United until June 2019, with the option of an additional year, and it is suggested that the talks are already underway to commit him to a new deal, which could ward off the ongoing link with Los Blancos.
