According to Sport Bild, Manchester United could yet sign Bayern Munich midfielder Arturo Vidal, despite the Chilean international having previously ruled out a move mid-season.
Manchester United signed Alexis Sanchez last week, and Chilean journalist Maks Cardenas believes his countryman could join him at Old Trafford before the January transfer window comes to a close.
After Bayern confirmed the signing of Leon Goretzka from Schalke, they may be more open to letting a midfielder go. Vidal, who joined the German side from Juventus in 2015, has made 115 appearances in all competitions.
The 30-year-old is contracted at Bayern until 2019. He’s won two Bundesliga titles, two Super Cups and one DFB-Pokal during his time at the Allianz Arena. Vidal also won four titles with Juve, in addition to two Super Cups and one Coppa Italia.
Chelsea and Inter Milan are reportedly also interested in him, so United might have to act fast. Jose Mourinho has a need for a midfielder, with Michael Carrick retiring in the summer and Marouane Fellaini’s future up the air – he turned down a new deal, with his contract expiring this summer.
Shakhtar midfielder Fred has also been linked with United, as the Red Devils look to bolster their options in the middle of the park before the window shuts, but Vidal would be an incredible coup.
Alexis is good friends with Vidal, with the latter having tried to convince him to join Bayern only a few months ago. So there’s a chance the reverse could happen for Manchester United.
There is no financial or playing benefit to buying a 30 year old player, Ibrahimovic tried in this league and one injury later and a lot of money wasted on him he is leaving, has been no use on the pitch since his injury now Mourinho wants to tempt fate again, hey ho it’s not his own money he’s using why worry?
