Brazil head coach Tite has issued a positive update on the fitness of new Manchester United signing Fred ahead of this summer’s World Cup in Russia. Jose Mourinho’s side confirmed the agreement to sign the 25-year-old from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month and a recent report has suggested that he will be officially registered as a United player in a week’s time.
During this period, Fred has not had the best of times after sustaining an ankle injury from a tackle from compatriot Casemiro, but manager Tite has now offered a positive update regarding the issue, he told Globo Esporte via M.E.N: “The doctor will bring us information about Fred. The forecast is that he is fit and ready to train with us.”
Brazil begin their World Cup campaign versus Switzerland on Sunday evening before tackling Costa Rica and Serbia in a noticeably tricky and competitive Group E.
With the presence of the likes of Casemiro, Paulinho and Fernandinho, Fred is unlikely to start from the off but he could be required in the latter stages of the World Cup, should fatigue creep in.
Depending on Brazil’s progress at the tournament, Fred will earn his off-season break but United fans should still get a glimpse of the midfielder during the pre-season schedule.
