Breakthrough as Manchester United close to completing major signing next week

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to complete the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea within the next week.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is clearly keen on signing a new central midfielder this summer and the likes of Marco Verratti, Toni Kroos and Renato Sanches have all been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few weeks.

However, United currently seem to have the most concrete interest in signing Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic and the Serbian international is currently available for a transfer after he was left out of the Blues’ pre-season tour of the Far East recently.

While it is clear that Matic will be leaving Chelsea this summer, United have still not been able to sign the 28-year-old as they have failed to come to an agreement with their rivals over a price for the experienced midfielder.

In a major breakthrough though, the Daily Mail have claimed that United will be looking to complete the signing of Matic within the next week as Chelsea have reportedly consented to allow the ex-Benfica star to leave for Old Trafford.

United seemed to have ramped up their pursuit for Matic recently as Marouane Fellaini looks set to be departing for Galatasaray and the Serb will surely be a good signing for the Red Devils.
