Captain Wayne Rooney fit for Saint’s trip

Captain Wayne Rooney has been given the all clear ahead of Monday’s crucial tie against Ronald Koeman’s high achieving Southhampton, according to reports.

Rooney’s injury came at a awkward time as the forward was just starting to find form and United fans will be hoping the momentum has not been halted as they look for a fifth consecutive team.

Rooney suffered the injury towards the end of the Hull City match when he clashed into the electronic boards after a tussle with Andrew Robertson and consequently missed the victory against Stoke. Louis van Gaal commented that he did not thing Rooney’s injury was heavy but that a scan would be done.

Rooney is likely to come in for James Wilson who struggled in the first half on Tuesday night. Southampton have been having a terrific season thus and and lie one spot above United in 3rd,despite losing two consecutive games against Manchester City and Arsenal respectively.
