According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea are interested in Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, who could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer following a fallout with manager Jose Mourinho.
Shaw has been heavily criticised by the United boss this season, having also lost his starting place at left-back to Ashley Young as a result of his inconsistency. The 22-year-old has made just seven Premier League appearances, starting just once since mid-January.
Left out of the important outings in the top flight and Champions League, Shaw has instead been reduced to EFL Cup (three appearances) and FA Cup games (four appearances) for most of the campaign, which could lead Chelsea to attempt to rescue him in the summer.
The £70k-per-week defender has seen his international hopes diminish due to the lack of playing time at United, so he may be open to a move away from Manchester. It’s unlikely he will make the England squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia unless something drastic changes.
Shaw didn’t take his manager’s recent criticism well, so he has a decision to make when the season comes to a close. Manchester City, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham are all keeping tabs on the former Southampton man, but Chelsea might push harder as they’ve been desperate for another left-back.
