Thibaut Courtois has stated that he is not completely certain that Chelsea currently miss Nemanja Matic in their squad.
Chelsea took the decision to sell key player Nemanja Matic to title rivals Manchester United during the summer transfer window and it has to be said that the move seems to be a huge aberration on the part of the defending Premier League champions.
Without the presence of Matic in their squad, Chelsea have suffered during the current campaign while at the same time, the arrival of the Serbian international to Old Trafford has served to make Manchester United a lot stronger.
Now ahead of Matic’s return to Stamford Bridge this weekend, many have gone on to criticize Chelsea for their decision to part ways with the midfielder but Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is not entirely sure that they miss their former teammate all that much.
Courtois said, “I don’t know. We know Nemanja’s qualities, he is someone who last year gave us the balance as well. He decided to go to another team, so we won’t live in the past.
“Our midfield is very good, we have very strong players so I don’t know if we miss him. But if you have two injuries in midfield, then, of course, you can say yeah we miss Nemanja because he is another quality player and he is doing well in Manchester.”
