Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have emerged as the front-runners to re-sign Henrikh Mkhitaryan from Manchester United in January. The Armenian has largely been ignored by Jose Mourinho since the last international break with just one substitute appearance in the Premier League.
According to The Independent, the German giants could lodge an attempt to re-acquire the services of Mkhitaryan, just as they have done in the past with the likes of Mario Gotze, Nuri Sahin and ex-Red Devil Shinji Kagawa.
Mourinho is deemed to be on the search for a new holding midfielder, and The Independent suggests that Mkhitaryan’s potential return to Dortmund could enhance United’s chances of signing Julian Weigl, although in a separate form of agreement. Here is how Twitter reacted to this transfer link.
Would be gutted if Mkhi was to leave?

Mkhitaryan started the season firing all cylinders as he amassed five assists in the space of three Premier League games. However, he has since added just a solitary goal to his league tally, and his future appears increasingly bleak every game as he is not able to show his presence even on the bench.
Mourinho has previously criticised the Armenian publicly for ‘disappearing’ in games, and it is reported that there has been a breakdown in relationship which could end the attacker’s 18-month stay at Old Trafford.
