Bryan Robson believes Manchester United have the opportunity of beating Chelsea on Sunday if they are able to win the midfield battle. The Red Devils have won just once in the last 15 meetings at Stamford Bridge, and that too came against nine-man Chelsea in 2012.
In a report covered by The Mirror, United spoke about the importance of stopping Eden Hazard in his stride by putting in a dominating performance in the centre of the park, he said: “If United can dominate the midfield area where we don’t let Hazard get a lot of the ball and Pedro, then I think our centre-halves can handle Morata.”
“If we can dominate the midfield area then we’ve got a great chance of getting a result….I’m going to go for a draw…yeah, I think there could be a few goals but I think it’ll be a tied game.”
Jose Mourinho’s men had a torrid time at Stamford Bridge last season as they were humbled by a 4-0 scoreline. Both Hazard and Pedro have linked up particularly well with summer signing Alvaro Morata and Nemanja Matic will have a huge role in intercepting play from the midfield.
Marouane Fellaini has reportedly travelled with the United squad for the weekend game, and the availability of the Belgian would be a huge boost – considering N’Golo Kante could return for the hosts.
