Club official confirms interest in agreeing deal with Manchester United for midfielder

Besiktas official Metin Albayrak has gone on to admit that his side are keen on acquiring the services of Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Fellaini maybe a divisive figure among the Manchester United faithful but there is no doubting the fact that manager Jose Mourinho is a keen admirer of the Belgian international.

Mourinho has always defended Fellaini amid criticism from the fans as well as the media and the Portuguese manager has consistently used the 29-year-old during crucial matches, which underlines the trust the duo have for each other.

Despite Mourinho rating Fellaini very highly though, his long-term future at Old Trafford has been cast into doubt due to the fact that he has not yet signed an extension to his contract which expires at the end of the current campaign.

As a result, a number of clubs are monitoring Fellaini’s situation very carefully and a move to Turkey has been mooted as a possibility for the midfielder on numerous occasions.

Now Besiktas official Metin Albayrak has revealed that his side are indeed interested in signing Fellaini and are keeping close eye on the former Everton man ahead of the January transfer window.

Speaking to Turkish-Football, Albayrak said, “Fellaini is on our list, we have made efforts to sign him but not just him. He is not the only player we scouted, our scouting team watched 20 games live this week. We are keeping tabs on several players.”
