Last year, Manchester United opted to hand David De Gea a lucrative deal to stay at Old Trafford but the Spanish international has been way too inconsistent for us in the past two seasons.
Dean Henderson played a brilliant season on loan for Sheffield United and he has done enough to earn a starting place at Old Trafford. However, Chelsea are trying to hire his services.
Transfer: Man Utd ready to bid to sign £25million star – Face competition
According to Mirror Sport, the Stamford Bridge club are ready to agree terms worth £170,000-a-week to secure the signing of the 23-year-old shot stopper. The Blues are plotting a move worth £55million that would make them favorites to sign Henderson from the Red Devils.
The renowned British source have stated that the English goalie would only sign a new contract with Man United if he is assured a regular starting place by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Henderson featured in 36 league games for Sheffield last term, conceded just 33 goals and kept 13 clean sheets.
On the other hand, De Gea conceded 36 goals in 38 PL appearances and kept 13 clean sheets for a side that spent over £100million to strengthen the back-line last summer (Maguire and Wan-Bissaka).
Club legend and former captain Roy Keane has urged Solskjaer to get rid of a De Gea if he wants to win the league title (The Mail).
Recently, the former Atletico Madrid goal keeper made two howlers n his first FA Cup appearance of the season that resulted in our exit from the competition. Before the semi final, Romero kept the goal well. The Argentine surely deserves to start for us in the Europa League.
In all fairness, we need a new No.1 in the goal for next season. In your view, should Dean Henderson be handed the chance to start at Old Trafford?
Roy Keane is right! Time to get a new keeper!
For me,Dean Henderson should be assured of number one in between the posts based on current form. He has done well in Sheffield United shirt last term, even with the fact that Sheffield just gained promotion last season. If De Gea stays in Man U he should be number two keeper. He has paid his dues in Han U though, but the game of football is all about current form and not your past glory.
