Rice and Sancho for England

Manchester United have been linked with England international Jadon Sancho for a long time and the latest reports are intriguing.

According to Fabrizio Romano who writes for The Guardian, the Red Devils have been in contact with Dortmund but negotiations have slowed down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. However, the renowned Italian journalist has stated that the Old Trafford club are confident they’ll secure the signing of the Three Lions star.

Transfer: Man Utd ready to seal signing of £15.6million-a-year forward in summer – Report

On the other hand, Mirror Sport claim that the German side are preparing to sell their star winger for a fee of over £120million and the likes of Man United, Liverpool and PSG are interested.

The British source have claimed that Old Trafford seems to be Sancho’s likely destination and Man Utd are favorites to agree terms over £250,000-a-week to secure his signing.

The Bundesliga attacker, who has turned 20 today, has been brilliant for Dortmund under the guidance of Lucien Favre.

In just 21 league starts this term, the youngster has directly contributed in 30 goals (14 goals and 16 assists).

He has already made 11 appearances for the senior national side and scored 2 goals under Gareth Southgate.

Last summer, we let Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez leave and replaced him by signing Daniel James from Swansea City. The Welsh attacker scored 3 goals in his first 4 league appearances for the Red Devils but since then (August), he has not been able to find the net in the Premier League.

So, it is evident that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still needs to improve the wide attacking positions in the summer transfer window and a top player like Jadon Sancho would largely amplify the quality of our offense.

The question is, should the Norwegian boss spend £120million to make him the club’s record signing? We shall see how the transfer saga unfolds in the coming months.
