Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided an update on the first-team squad ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford.
Speaking to MUTV, the Portuguese tactician revealed that there is no positive fitness news from the previous outing against Sevilla, and the squad is likely to remain the same for the Seagulls game, he said: “No, not yet. [The squad is] exactly the same [as Sevilla].”
As such, United are expected to be without the advances of Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo in the defensive department, whilst Ander Herrera is also in the treatment room after a hamstring injury in the Champions League last month.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been training alongside United teammates of late, but the big Swede is still not ready to play amid reports of an alleged rift between the marksman and Mourinho, being speculated through the media.
Following a lacklustre performance in the Sevilla defeat, the fans expect a better performance against Brighton on Saturday, and nothing less than a win would do, if United are to maintain their prospects of securing a second FA Cup crown in three seasons.
