Contact made – Man Utd consider move to sign £26million player – Face competition

Nikola Milenkovic Serbia

Manchester United put in a solid defensive performance to earn all three points against rivals and neighbors Manchester City last night.

However, such strong displays at the back have been rare this term and that is one of the main reasons why we are so far behind the Sky Blues in the Premier League table.

Transfer: Man United backed to secure signings of £217million stars

The Cityzens have only conceded 19 goals in their 28 league outings so far. On the other hand, the Red Devils have let in 32 goals already.

Therefore, things need to be reinforced in the back-line if Solskjaer really wants his side to beat Man City to the PL title.

As per reports (Calcio Mercato), Man Utd consider making a move to sign Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina.

Calcio Mercato have claimed that the Red Devils have already made contact to attain information about the 23-year-old central defender.

Moreover, the Old Trafford club are evaluating all the economic parameters before eventually moving in to hire the services of the Serbian star.

Milenkovic will be out of contract in the summer of 2022 and it is stated that in the next transfer window, he could leave the Viola for a fee of 30 million euros i.e. £26million.

This is not the first time that we are linked with the former Partizan star. Back in 2018, even Jose Mourinho wanted to lure the 26-capped international to Old Trafford (The Sun).

Defensively, Fiorentina have not been up to the mark this season and Milenkovic has not performed consistently as well. However, he has been effective in the attacking third (3 goals and 1 assist).

In my view, we need to lure a leader at the back, someone good enough to command and transform the entire defense. In your opinion, who should Man Utd sign to lead their back-line?
