Manchester United star Paul Pogba is linked with a move away from Old Trafford and if the club’s record signing does end up leaving, then Solskjaer should splash the cash to bring a quality replacement.
In such a scenario, reports suggest that the Red Devils have already started looking for someone to replace the French international.
Transfer: Club prepared to offer £75million playmaker to Manchester United
According to AS, Man United would move to sign Spanish international and Atletico Madrid star Saul Niguez, if Pogba leaves.
The renowned Spanish outlet state that the PL giants have already contacted and made the player’s representative aware of their interest. The 24-year-old has got a huge clause of 150 million euros (£134million) in his contract and AS claim that the Rojiblancos demand full payment of the clause to part ways with the midfielder.
The La Roja player is versatile. He can effectively feature anywhere in the center of the park and if required, he can also play as a winger. The Atletico star is a brilliant dribbler (remember his fantastic solo goal against Bayern Munich few seasons back). Moreover, he does not have a weak foot.
Under the management of Argentine boss Simeone, the Spaniard has also played as a defensive midfielder and in the last campaign, a few times, he was even utilized in the left back role.
With Simeone in charge, Atletico have focused a lot on their defensive shape and they have been rock solid at the back. In that setup, Niguez rarely gets the chance to move forward in the attacking third and that is why he only netted 4 goals in 33 league appearances last term.
If I have to compare him to someone then that would be Modric, who rarely used to score goals for Tottenham but made things happen with his vision and was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
In your view, should United sign Saul Niguez to replace Pogba?
For me Saul is a complete midfielder compared to Pogba.
