According to the Mirror, Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in Manchester United defender Luke Shaw, whose proposed contract talks are yet to take place.
The 22-year-old looked on his way out of Old Trafford earlier in the season after spending the first few months of the campaign exiled from the first-team, all the while his deal was up in the summer.
Shaw’s first Premier League appearance of 2017/18 didn’t come until December 2017, and he’s since featured in six of United’s last 11 league games.
His contract is still set to expire at the end of the current season, and manager Jose Mourinho has stated that talks with Shaw will take place before the summer, but the Mirror say there’s been no progress yet.
This is good news for Arsenal and Chelsea, who are reportedly both looking to sign a left-back ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. Nacho Monreal turns 32 later this month and will need a long-term replacement.
Arsenal have Sead Kolasinac, who was meant to be that option, but he’s lost his place in the last couple of months. The Gunners have long been linked to Shaw too.
Chelsea have been after a new left-back all season, despite Marcus Alonso playing his part in the Blues winning the Premier League title just months previously.
Their failure to land Alex Sandro could see them try to capitalise on Shaw’s situation at United, although there’s been no official movement made from either club.
