Respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has refuted that Manchester United have agreed to sign Ivan Perisic, contrary to recent reports.
Manchester United recently completed the signing of Nemanja Matic from Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of around £40million and soon after the capture of the Serbian international, manager Jose Mourinho is believed to have switched his attention to landing the services of Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic.
Inter and United have both been haggling over the price for Perisic but Calcio Mercato had claimed that the deal coming into fruition was set for a major breakthrough, with Anthony Martial agreeing to join the Italian side on loan as part of the deal taking the Croatian attacker to Old Trafford.
However, respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has gone on to refute such claims by stating that United have actually made no second attempt to sign Perisic after having their first bid rejected and that they have ‘dropped off’ their pursuit for the 28-year-old.
Di Marzio said on his official website, “Perisic could stay. Manchester United has dropped off from the radar and have not made another attempt.”
The varying claims most certainly have confused many and only time will tell as to whether or not Perisic will become a United player this summer.
