Real Madrid ace Cristiano Ronaldo believes Marcus Rashford could follow in his footsteps to become one of the best footballers in the world. The Portugal international bagged yet another UEFA Player of the Year after he celebrated a La Liga and Champions League double with Los Blancos last season.
Ronaldo, 32, had stayed at the top of his game over the course of last season despite many doubting whether he could guide Los Blancos to another Spanish title. While he still has plenty of years left in his playing career, Ronaldo admits that the next generation of stars are catching up on him.
When asked to name a few, Ronaldo mentioned United ace Rashford among others including Neymar and Eden Hazard, who ply their trade for Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea respectively.
“It’s a very good question. I see some with great potential: Asensio, Mbappe, Neymar, Dembele, Hazard, Rashford…and some others. ‘In the next generation there are at least ten players with very, very great potential,” he told reporters in Monaco during the Champions League draw on Thursday h/t Goal.com.
Rashford has had a bright beginning to his career at United with goals in his Europa League, Premier League and EFL Cup debuts. The 19-year-old will get his first taste of Champions League next month, and he will be eyeing to impress in the elite competition.
