Daley Blind’s father, Danny Blind believes that Jose Mourinho has six automatic picks in his Manchester United squad this season. The former Netherlands head coach has watched the Red Devils’ progress during the 2017/18 Premier League campaign which has revolved around key players in the form of Romelu Lukaku and David de Gea.
The Red Devils have bagged six wins from their opening Premier League games, and they are only second to cross-city rivals Manchester City, who are just ahead on goal difference. United’s league form has also stretched to other competitions after securing comprehensive wins in the League Cup and Champions League.
Speaking on ZiggoSport h/t The Express, Blind singled out six players from the United side which have contributed to their recent success, he said: “They are David De Gea, Antonio Valencia, Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, who is currently injured, Romelu Lukaku and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.”
“For Mourinho, that is the frame of his side. Valencia is also his captain. Around these six chosen ones, he keeps changing the players. Sometimes he makes a choice between Marcus Rashford or Anthony Martial. Sometimes it is [Daley] Blind or Ashley Young or, rarely, Matteo Darmian.”
De Gea has been in stunning form as usual between the sticks, but there has been a huge improvement from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has added five assists to his name this season. Apart from that, the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Nemanja Matic have adjusted perfectly to their respective positions, and United look in good shape to challenge for the English crown this term.
