As per the latest updates coming from Spain, the Dutch star has been emotionally blackmailed to sign for Manchester United.

Transfer: Man Utd told £38.3million offer will finally seal signing – Correio da Manha

According to a story covered by Mundo Deportivo today (press image provided below), after reaching an agreement worth 85 million euros, the Blaugrana have been pushing the 25-year-old to accept a move to Old Trafford.

The La Liga giants have put the former Ajax midfielder in a very difficult situation by turning his departure from the Nou Camp into the solution of the problems caused by the wage bill and the lack of financial fair play.

MD claim that it has been a case of “emotional blackmail”. De Jong has been told to leave for the Red Devils so that Barca will be able to register Sergi Roberto (contract extended for a year) and two new signings, Andreas Christensen and Franck Kessie.

The Spanish side received heavy criticism on social media for their treatment of the Netherlands star. He was a regular starter, on the other hand, Roberto only made 9 league appearances in the last campaign.

The case is not closed and the management is still looking to sell the midfielder, even though he is part of the pre-season squad that has traveled to America.
