According to a report published by Marca, after getting rejection on their first bid, the English outfit have returned with a second offer but even that does not satisfy the Catalan club.
The renowned Spanish news source claim that Man United have offered 65 million euros plus add-ons but the La Liga giants want at least 75 million euros.
For the 25-year-old, the biggest attraction at Old Trafford is the presence of Erik ten Hag. As per Marca, the former Ajax man knows that he would become the conductor of the team if he joins Man Utd, which is an enticing offer but first, the PL club have to reach an agreement with the Catalan giants.
Barcelona have major financial concerns and they would benefit from the sale of De Jong. The move would help them to earn a huge fee and get rid of the midfielder’s massive wages.
The Netherlands star still has four years left on his contract at the Nou Camp and he earns £290,000 a week (The Guardian).
Last season, he featured in 46 games in all competitions, scored 4 goals and provided 5 assists.
In the past couple of years, Nemanja Matic mainly warmed the bench and Paul Pogba spent the majority of the time on the treatment table for us. Now, the duo are leaving the club and we need a fit and quality midfielder like De Jong for the future.
