Deal close – Man Utd ready to secure £44million signing

Old-Trafford

Manchester United shot stopper, David De Gea, will be out of contract next month and so far, fresh terms have not been agreed with the club.

If reports in the media are anything to go by then the Red Devils are closing in to lure Brentford goalie, David Raya, for £44million.

Transfer: Star will fly to join Man Utd for £50m, waiting for window to open – Report

Earlier this month, Thomas Frank confirmed that Raya could end up leaving the Bees in the summer transfer window and his market value is worth over £40million (The Mirror).

As per a recent story covered by Spanish source, Nacional, the 27-year-old Spaniard is close to signing for the Old Trafford club.

It is stated that Man Utd are ready to pay 51 million euros (£44million) to get the signing done.

The 2-capped international, who was part of the Spanish World Cup squad last year, has been in impressive form for Brentford, who will end the season in the top half of the table.

Raya has so far featured in every single Premier League game for the Gtech outfit this term and kept 11 clean sheets.

The Bees will collide against Manchester City in the final game of the season and a victory may even earn them qualification to the Europa Conference League.

De Gea has been a loyal servant for us but from 2018 to 2022, he was absolutely average. However, this season, he has returned to form and deservedly won the Golden Glove award.

In your view, is it time to finally let the La Roja star leave? Should Man Utd replace him with David Raya?
