Deal close – Man Utd to agree £21million-a-year terms with De Gea

David De Gea is one of the best if not the best goal keepers in the world and in the post Ferguson era, the Spanish shot stopper has been the best player at Old Trafford.

Therefore, the Red Devils have to hold on to him no matter what and if the latest update exclusively provided by The Sun is true, then it should put a smile on the faces of the Manchester Untied faithful.

According to The Sun, the 28-year-old star is ready to agree a new deal with Manchester United and he has told his friends that he is very close to sealing the deal.

The British source have not talked about the exact length of the deal but it has been claimed that the contract will tie him down to United well into his 30s.

The significant fact mentioned by The Sun is that De Gea would double his wages by signing on terms worth £400,000-a-week (£21million-a-year) that will make him the highest paid goalie in the world.

De Gea is world class, that much we know, but like every Man United player and supporter, he would be frustrated with the fact that the club has failed to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League titles since 2013.

The ex Atletico Madrid player has proved to be brilliant for United in the past few years but he had an average World Cup in Russia with Spain and after that, his form has been poor for United as well.

This saga has taken so many twists for so long that the fans do not really know what to believe in and what not to. An official announcement should help.
