Manchester United have started a new project under Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese tactician is coming off an incredible stint with Sporting CP and is looking to replicate the same as he looks to return the Red Devils back to their glory days.

Anyone who has followed Amorim’s career during his time with the Lions will understand what he is trying to do with Man Utd.

He has already started setting the team up in a 3-4-3 formation that served him so well in Portugal.

One more key feature of Amorim’s Sporting was their incredible scouting of young talent which more often than not allowed them to spot players before the world took notice, thereby getting good deals on them.

Now, as per Uriel Lugt via X, Cerro Porteno teenage starlet Diego Leon is very close to joining Man Utd for £3.9million. The 17-year-old would be continuing his development at the English club after catching the eye in South America.

Leon would arrive in England in 2025 before Manchester United make a decision on his future. One would safely assume that the Red Devils would find him loan moves within England in the lower leagues to assist his adaptation.

A left-back by trade, Diego Leon has played 19 times for his club across all competitions this season scoring two goals and he has the raw potential to become a very important player in his position and Man Utd would have identified that.

It remains to be seen if the investment pays dividends in the coming seasons. It might be too early to make a call on the same but let’s wait and see how Leon continues his development either at the club or elsewhere.
